How to Work From Anywhere
May 12, 2026
Is your office a location or a login? Here is how to turn any location into a secure, high-performing office, with just a single login.
It's your weekly dose of clarity and insight on all things tech & business from Dream in Digital! Each week, I'm here to share my thoughts to help you make the most of today's technology and build a business that genuinely supports the life you want to live.
This Week’s Core Focus:
Setting Up Your Remote Business
It can be common to associate remote work with just working from home. Although working from home can be beneficial, true remote work isn't about moving your office to your kitchen table; it’s about location independence. Having the ability to work from anywhere can often help fuel your productivity, or even just help you make the most of your time on the go. To do this however, you need to make sure your setup is designed for you to truly work from anywhere. Here are some of the core pieces of a strong remote work setup:
Adopt a Web-First Workflow: Move your workflow from local desktop apps to an entirely online setup via your web browser. This ensures your devices stop being "vaults" where files are trapped, and instead become windows into your business. Whether you're on your laptop or your phone, your data and workflows will function exactly the same way every time.
Prioritize a Secure Connection: True mobility requires a connection you can trust. While home or private office networks are ideal, being "on the go" shouldn't mean compromising your security. Utilizing a mobile hotspot or VPN provides a private, encrypted tunnel to the internet that public Wi-Fi simply can't match.
Embrace Adaptable Hardware: Your setup should be able to "shrink" without losing its soul. You might love your multi-monitor (home) office, but your business should be just as functional with a laptop and a pair of earbuds at a local café. The goal is a setup that is as mobile as you need it to be.
Tech Tip of the Week:
Encrypted Internet, From Almost Anywhere
The Problem: You want to work from anywhere, but not all places have the fastest or most secure internet connections.
The Solution: Use your phone’s Mobile/Personal Hotspot.
Step 1:
+ On Android, go to Settings > Connections > Mobile Hotspot and Tethering > Toggle “Mobile Hotspot” on.

Step 2:
+ Connect your laptop to this network just like you would any other Wi-Fi network.
How This Helps: This creates a private, password-protected connection using your cellular data, ensuring your business stays secure, even when you’re working in public spaces.
