A Reminder to Clean Your Digital Space!
September 4, 2025
A new season means a new chance to clear out the digital clutter and focus on what truly matters.
It's your weekly dose of clarity and insight on all things tech & business from Dream in Digital! Each week, I'm here to share my thoughts to help you make the most of today's technology and build a business that genuinely supports the life you want to live.
This Week’s Core Focus:
The Digital Clean Up
I’m a meteorological calendar person, so when September 1st hits, it becomes the Fall/Autumn season for me! Either way, a digital clean up every quarter is often a great way to keep your workspace relevant, and your mind at ease. Just like decluttering your physical office, regularly tidying up your digital workspace can dramatically improve your focus and efficiency. By removing distractions and bringing more important things to the center, you can gain back valuable time and focus on what truly matters. Let’s get into it!
1. Declutter Your Desktop:
This is my desktop...

I have my 3 core Chrome profiles - Work, Personal, Creative - pinned to my taskbar, with the Calculator & File Explorer apps for quick access, and FL Studio (music production) & djay Pro (dj software) pinned as reminders to be human and have fun too! 😂 Round that off with a shortcut to a Server for file sharing, and my Recycle Bin, and that’s it!
Clean, empty, a clear mind, a blank space, a quick pause before the busyness of the day swirls into action!
Do you have to be this digitally minimal? No. What is important though is that you treat your desktop as the workspace it is, NOT a storage unit! Take a few minutes today, or each day, to file away old documents into proper folders and delete unnecessary files. Your clear mind will thank you…
2. Organize Your Files & Folders: I’ve posted about a few ways to do this already in previous editions of this newsletter - Declutter Your Digital Workspace & Sync Files to the Cloud with Google Drive for Desktop - but if you're still without a simple and consistent structure for your files, you’ll probably want to read the other editions first, and then come back to tackling your desktop. Tasks like building out a folder structure can be tedious, but they will save you countless hours and headspace down the road, so take your pick!
3. Tame Your Tabs: I could honestly write an article about this topic alone, but the TL;DR here is CLOSE YOUR TABS! 😅 Having too many tabs open can quickly become overwhelming and create a chaotic workspace. Get in the habit of closing tabs you're not using, and if anything, Set Your On Startup Pages. This simple act reduces visual noise and helps you stay focused on the task at hand.
Tech Tip of the Week:
Tame Your Tabs with Keyboard Shortcuts
The Problem: You've got too many tabs open, and you're constantly losing your place, creating a cluttered digital workspace that slows you down.
The Solution: Use these simple keyboard shortcuts to regain control of your browser tabs.
Shortcuts to Try:
Move through tabs: Use Ctrl + Tab to quickly cycle through your open tabs and find the one you need.
Close a single tab: Press Ctrl + W to instantly close the current tab you're on.
Close multiple tabs at once: Click on a tab you want to close, then hold down Shift and click on another tab to select multiple tabs at once. Then, use that Ctrl + W shortcut you just learned above and boom, all of your selected tabs are closed!
