Learn how to use AI tools that are already available to help you save time and be more effective while you build your business.
It's your weekly dose of clarity and insight on all things tech & business from Dream in Digital! Each week, I'm here to share my thoughts to help you make the most of today's technology and build a business that genuinely supports the life you want to live.
This Week’s Core Focus:
Leveraging AI for Your Business
A lot of the conversation around AI now seems to focus on grand, complex projects. For the solo entrepreneur however, the real power of AI is in its ability to handle the small, repetitive tasks that eat away at your time, and the bigger, visionary strategies that directly help you evolve your business. This week, we're cutting through the noise to focus on how to use AI in a way that helps you build your business, while also being more efficient with your time.
Focused Idea Generation: Need help kickstarting your next big idea or outlining a brand-new service? AI can be your tireless brainstorming partner, helping you get from a single thought to a fully-formed plan in minutes.
Consistent Content Creation: Need help consistently writing content for your social media pages or your weekly newsletter? (Shhh…🤫 lol) Let AI serve as a creative partner, reviewing your past work and providing on-brand ideas and initial drafts to help you get started.
Strategic Planning: As a solopreneur, it can feel lonely when you don’t have someone to strategize with. Use AI as an expert guide to help you think through core business processes and visionary decisions, to take your next steps with confidence.
Data-Driven Insights: Need to make sense of your business data? Use AI as a digital analyst to summarize complex information and identify key trends or patterns you might have missed, or that you simply just don’t have time to analyze. This helps you make smarter, more informed decisions about your business.
Tech Tip of the Week:
Create a Custom AI That Knows Your Business
The Problem: General AI tools often provide generic, off-brand answers that require significant time and effort to get right, which can feel counterproductive.
The Solution: Create a custom AI assistant (like a Google Gemini Gem or an OpenAI GPT) that is trained on your company to act as a highly specialized partner.
How to Build Your Digital Expert:
To create an AI that truly understands your business, you need to provide it with the right knowledge. Think of it as onboarding a new team member. Here's the essential information to feed it:
Your Core Identity: Upload your company’s vision, mission, and value statements. Provide your sales decks, strategy docs, templates, and any other helpful brainstorming and informative documents you’ve previously written. The more data it has to reference, the better it will be able to help.
Your Voice: Direct the AI to your website and tell it to scan all your content and copy. This teaches it your brand's voice, tone, and specific phrasing, while also helping it understand your company and brand in an organized and professional way.
Your Workflow: Don’t let existing AI threads go to waste! If you’ve already created threads with a general AI, ask it to summarize the conversations for you. These can then be used as powerful building blocks for your custom Gem or GPT, transforming past chats about content calendars, brainstorming ideas, or website strategy into core knowledge.
Pro-Tip: Don't hesitate to ask the AI what it needs! Just like with a new team member, you can learn about its needs to help you get the most out of it. Simply prompt it with, "What questions and information do you need to be the best partner for my business moving forward?" and then fill in the blanks from there.
Bonus Tip: Once you've created a custom Gem and/or GPT for your company, go ahead and create custom Gems & GPTs for each of your clients! This allows you to have the same type of specialized support, but now you have it for each client to make their work even more focused and efficient. You're building an expert for, and on your client, and that's truly powerful stuff!
How This Helps: This one-time setup (with continuous incremental improvements) creates an incredibly powerful partner that provides highly accurate, consistent, and on-brand assistance.
