Be Intentional
July 24, 2025
When you live and work intentionally, your productivity and growth can soar…
It's your weekly dose of clarity and insight on all things tech & business from Dream in Digital! Each week, I'm here to share my thoughts to help you make the most of today's technology and build a business that genuinely supports the life you want to live.
This Week’s Core Focus:
Be Intentional
In a world where it’s easy to get “swept up with the herd” it’s also easy to spend time on things for your business that really just don’t move things forward (*insert_big_mirror_here* because I’m especially talking to myself now too, lol). It’s a constant game of needing to step back and remind yourself what’s truly important during this stage of your journey, and then having the discipline to block everything else out and solely focus on the few things that actually matter.
Take Time to Reflect: Spend 10 minutes today thinking about the top 3 things you can do that will have the most impact on your company’s growth.
Write It Down: Now, write each of those 3 things down in a task app or another place where you will see them often - be specific!
Plan to Execute: If you have time now, start working on task #1. If not, write down deadlines for each task AND the time slots you will MAKE available to complete each task.
Tech Tip of the Week:
Optimizing Google Tasks for Clarity & Focus
The Problem:
It can be hard to focus, and especially hard to stay disciplined, when you’re trying to work on your top priority tasks, but your workspace is flooded with other tasks and ideas that can easily distract you.
The Solution:
Use the “Starred Tasks” Setting in Google Tasks.
Step 1: Write all of your tasks down in their respective lists/sections. (Ex. Core Tasks, Company Tasks, Client A Tasks, Client B Tasks, Etc.)
Step 2: Find the top 3 tasks across all of your lists and click the “star” icon to automatically move the task to your “Starred Tasks” list.
Step 3: Go to your “Starred Tasks” list and only focus on this list until all 3 tasks are completed.
Screenshots for reference - note all the places you can see your tasks in Google Workspace!
1. Click the Tasks icon in your side panel of each google app (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Etc.).

2. Head to Google Calendar and select the “Tasks” window option.

3. Head to tasks.google.com/tasks to see tasks and use the left side panel to select & deselect lists or find your “Starred” list.

4. Download the Google Tasks app for Android or Apple!

How This Helps:
Just as a clean workspace is a clean mind; an intentional workspace leads to you being more intentional with your work. By using the Tasks feature in Google Workspace, and the “Starred Tasks” list to separate the essential from the non-essential, you can have a clear and direct way to focus on what truly matters while you work.
* Pro Tip: Use Google Tasks' Reminder Feature to Set Due Dates!
An easy way for you to make time for your top priority tasks is to set a date and time for each task within Google Tasks. This way, you'll see it on your calendar and even get a notification reminding you that it's time to get to work!
