Untangling the Meta Maze

February 17, 2026

Stop the "login loop" and learn how to properly use Meta Business Suite to keep your business organized and your personal life private.

It's your weekly dose of clarity and insight on all things tech & business from Dream in Digital! Each week, I'm here to share my thoughts to help you make the most of today's technology and build a business that genuinely supports the life you want to live.

This Week’s Core Focus:

The Meta Hierarchy

In today’s social media world, Facebook & Instagram are some of the most frequented platforms, so establishing your business on one, or both, of these platforms is often a must. Although Meta provides a powerful (& FREE) tool to help you manage your business’s social media accounts, Meta’s maze of different accounts, settings, and permissions is a literal nightmare! That’s why this week’s core focus is about helping you understand the Meta Business Suite hierarchy, and simplifying your Meta Business Suite setup, so you can more effortlessly manage your social media accounts for your business. Let’s dive into the hierarchy to help you understand how Meta sets things up…

  1. Business Portfolio: Think of this as your “Company Vault.” Your business owns the Portfolio, and the Portfolio owns the rest of your Accounts.

  2. Business Asset: Inside your Portfolio, your business houses your Assets: your Facebook Page, your Instagram Account, and your Ad Account. These are the "properties" your business runs.

  3. Business Function: This is where you (or your team) actually does the work, inside of one of your business Assets. You can do things like: create a post for your Facebook Page or Instagram Account, respond to comments, or check ads in your Ad Account.

Tech Tip of the Week:

The Meta Business Suite Setup

The Problem: You created a Facebook Page & Instagram account for your business, but they aren’t connected, so you keep needing to login and/or toggle between accounts every time you want to complete a simple action.

The Solution: By setting up a Meta Business Portfolio for your company, and claiming your Facebook Page & Instagram Account as “Business Assets,” you’ll be able to use Meta Business Suite to manage everything in one place.

Step 1: Create your Business Portfolio at business.facebook.com

Step 2: Claim your Facebook Page and Instagram Account into that Portfolio, so they are officially linked as Business Assets.

Step 3: Use the Meta Business Suite (app or desktop) for all daily tasks related to your business’s social media accounts.

How This Helps: You can now toggle between different business brands/assets with one click, reply to all DMs in a single inbox, and keep your personal account(s) separate from your business, which is also really important!

A Question for You:

What’s the number one reason your business isn’t showing up on social media?
